Hydrotherapy
Toronto Naturopathic Clinic
Hydrotherapy treatment is a powerful supportive therapy, often used in conjunction with botanical medicines, acupuncture, homeopathy and nutritional counselling.
Hydrotherapy is the use of hot and cold water to stimulate the circulatory, lymphatic and immune systems of the body. During a treatment hot water brings blood flow to the skin surface, allowing for muscle relaxation and blood vessel vasodilation (expansion). When this is alternated with a cold water treatment, blood flow is pushed inward towards the vital organs.
This act of shunting back and forth of the body’s circulatory system promotes a healthy immune system, improves detoxification, decreases physical pain, encourages tissue healing and helps restore energy levels.
Hydrotherapy is a gentle way to improve healing of an injury, increase your resistance to colds and flu, and to enhance a detoxification protocol.
