About Dr. Amanda Guthrie, ND

 

Dr. Amanda Guthrie practices with a patient-focused approach where listening to and understanding her patients are her top priorities. Always striving to treat the root cause of illness, she blends scientific research with holistic healing methods and maintains a strong focus on the mind-body connection. Dr. Guthrie offers guidance in adopting a healthier lifestyle and prescribes natural therapies to both treat and prevent illness. The philosophy of her practice is based upon a dedication to help patients reach their optimal state of wellness one step at a time.

Dr. Guthrie treats patients in a holistic way, focusing on the interactions between the physical body, mind, and emotions. Drawing on her background in the life sciences, she keeps current with modern medical research on natural therapies to ensure safe and effective treatment. With additional training in Mind-Body Medicine from the Harvard Medical School and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Dr. Guthrie emphasizes the importance of achieving mental and emotional health as well as physical health.

Background

Dr. Guthrie completed her pre-medical training at Trent University (Peterborough, Ontario) and Dundee University (Scotland), receiving a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology. After working in the hospital setting, she decided to combine her love of nature with medicine and embarked on a career in Naturopathic Medicine. She obtained her designation as Naturopathic Doctor after four years of full-time study at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, and clinic internships at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic and Anishnawbe Health Toronto.

Dr. Amanda Guthrie is certified by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners, and has obtained her license from the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy – Naturopathy. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

Our logo is enclosed within a circle to represent unity and wholeness. All of our many body systems interact closely with each other and we must treat illness from this holistic perspective. The three interlocking rings represent Mind, Body and Spirit. Thus, our logo signifies how all aspects of our health are interrelated with each other and with our environment.

Park Road Healing Arts is home to a number of registered holistic health practitioners, providing the opportunity to confidently refer patients to each other if and when our clients require additional support. Naturopathic Doctors: primary health care that emphasizes the body’s innate ability to heal and maintain itself. Naturopathic medicine uses safe and effective natural therapies to treat the root cause of illness and promote holistic health.

Registered Massage Therapists: manipulate muscles, ligaments, and tendons, to encourage the healing of specific injuries and to produce the healing effects of relaxing muscular tension.

Chiropractors: focus on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and their effects on the nervous system and overall health.

Psychotherapist: assist you in the process of self-discovery and personal growth, through the exploration of how past and present day experiences shape your life. The aim is to help you achieve a more fulfilling life.
